Diploma in Montessori Method of Education (2 ½ - 6 Years)

This is a foundation Montessori teacher training course. It is suitable for students wishing to work with or to teach children from 2½ to 6 years of age. The Diploma is awarded by Modern Montessori International, London.

Entry Qualifications

Applicants are assessed on their individual merits but must have obtained at least 3 GCE "O" Levels (or its equivalent). They must also have a good standard of both written and spoken English. They must be at least 17 years of age.

Aims

The course aims to develop in students a high level of professional competence as teachers of the Montessori Method of Education to children from 2½ to 6 years of age. It will give students:

  • A deep grounding in the Montessori Principle and Philosophy
  • Basic understanding of child psychology
  • An appreciation and understanding of the teaching aids developed by Dr. Montessori
  • A knowledge of the Montessori environment and the role of a Montessori directress/director
  • Knowledge of the Montessori curriculum

Teaching Practice

An increasing number of employers expect prospective employees to have work experience in the Montessori classroom. To meet this need, we offer students an opportunity to obtain the International Diploma upon completion of supervised teaching practice in an accredited Montessori school.

Course Description

Mode of Study
Diploma

In order to obtain the Diploma, awarded by MMI London Full time students have to:

  • Attend lectures regularly
  • Complete and pass all written assignments
  • Pass written & practical examinations
International Diploma

In order to obtain the international Diploma awarded by MMI London, students have to obtain the certificate and complete 420 hours of teaching practice.
